Tiffany Adler, Techlocity’s Human Resources Office Manager, explains the policies and procedures in place to keep our customers safe.

At Techlocity, the security and privacy of our customers’ data is a top priority. Within the IT industry, it is always important to put in place proper checks & balances in regards to customer data in order to promote a confidential relationship. Implementing policies, procedures and continued training is the best way to maintain a secure environment. As Human Resources Office Manager, my primary goal is to set standards within the workplace, from hiring and beyond.

Properly Vet Candidates and Follow Hiring Procedures

Maintaining confidentiality as well as security begins with the hiring process. By creating job descriptions that clearly state the expectations of a position, both applicants as well as hiring managers can maintain reasonable standards for job performance as well as internal security processes. During the interview process, we seek candidates who understand the importance of privacy as well as have the skills necessary to adhere to security policies in terms of confidentiality, information retention and recovery. Additionally, we ask all of our employee applicants to sign off on personal background screenings through General Information Services, Inc (“GIS”) prior to employment. This background screening investigates education, work history, professional licenses and credentials, references, address history, social security number validity, right to work, criminal record, lawsuits, driving record, credit history and any other information pertinent to the background check. Checking a candidate’s references and vetting his/her job history are both vital requirements at the beginning of the hiring process.

Set Common Goals & Standards

Techlocity has a code of ethics in place to promote common values. All employees and affiliates are responsible for sustaining the ethics of the company and the community in which they function, and we ask all new employees to read, understand and sign off on the code of ethics in our employee handbook. Secondly, proper disciplinary procedures if an employee violates our code of ethics or privacy policy. Finally, it is important to frequently review confidentiality policies to ensure compliance with state law. If you would like to review our code of ethics or confidentiality policy, please reach out to Tiffany at tadler@techlocity.com.

Protect Confidential Information On All Fronts

In addition to a code of ethics, we have a strict confidentiality policy that we ask all employees to sign off on as well. This helps to protect customer security by stating all information will be held in confidence upon employment and beyond.

At the end of the day, securing customer data goes far beyond policies at Techlocity; we use sophisticated programs and software to give customers (as well as employees) access to passwords and network information while maintaining high levels of security, password protection and more.

Enforcing privacy and confidentiality policies from day one is one of the most important steps a service provider can take to protect confidential information. Creating strong procedures, training employees on the policies and implementing disciplinary actions for violations is key.
